The Results Are Officially In

Well, if I do say so myself, that presentation went way better than expected. Not only were me and the girls happy with it ourselves, and not only did we exceed our own expectations, Shaun loved it as well. He said it was the best of the day. Myself and Niamh thought we would get really awkward and shy and mess up the presentation but we managed to be confident and read out our slides with no problem.

The only problem that happened was that the link to our pod cast didn't work during the presentation (thank god, You would've seen the awkward come out in me then). But Shaun said the presentation itself was strong, so if the pod cast was in anyway decent he would agree to give us the full 3 points! It doesn't get much better than that really!

I think the best thing about these missions for me will be to learn how to work in a team because i's not something that comes naturally t me. I either want to take control of the whole hing, or if I don't like a certain topic, I tend to rely too much on other people in the group which is something I definitely don't want to do moving forward.

Looking back at all the work we did I think it's safe to say we pretty much nailed it. I can't wait to start work on the culture mission, considering the creativity mission was such a success.

For this next mission I would like to work on my teamwork because I feel like we all worked separately to a certain extent. Even though our product and presentation gave the impression of excellent teamwork, I feel that this will be my weakness carrying through this module.

We're also working with new people in the group, which is great. I can't wait to see if I work better or worse with this new team of people (hopefully not worse but we'll see how everything fairs out).

Anyway, enough about the next mission, this mission clearly taught me about its content matter which is all very good, but I also learned my strengths and weaknesses moving forward. As much as I felt nervous beforehand, I actually quite liked presenting our project. It was nice to show off our work. However, my weakness would probably be being a strong team member. I kind of did my own research and didn't really contribute to the power point itself as much as I should have.

But overall I feel like my work has been a great success and I'm very excited moving forward after getting really encouraging and positive feedback from this mission. Who knows? the three of us may just go for a celebratory drink now that that's all done and dusted.

Well, I better stop rambling and go find out who I'm going to be in a group with next. If I don't decide soon I won't have a group for the culture mission. See you on the flip side when I find a new group.

My completed assignment

Considering I am probably one of the laziest human beings to ever walk the earth, it’s a slight miracle
that I’ve actually got a presentation done on time. It’s also not helping that I am slowly getting a cold and I’m really not excited about it. My presentation is due this morning and I’m excited to make it. We put a lot of effort into it together and for me, being as lazy as I am, it’s an early Christmas miracle. I’m happy to have it out of the way with to be honest and I hope Shaun loves it.

Our finished product consisted of a power point and a podcast, as we had carefully planned out. I learned a lot of new things from this assignment. I learned lots of new things about digital audio and sound waves etc. I'll let the power point explain all the new things I learned from this mission before I bore you to death explaining it all like this on the blog.

I didn't even know that analog audio existed before this mission. I really enjoyed being creative by making our podcast and we had a good laugh making it. As much as I enjoyed making the pod cast, I didn't enjoy putting the power point together as much. I suppose ultimately it benefited me to learn new things but I just preferred recording our pod cast more. I would definitely like to do more stuff like this in the future and throughout the course.

I feel that the topic of digital audio really suited all three of us. I am really responsive to audio and aural learning, and both of the girls found audio really intriguing because it is hidden in our everyday lives and we hardly even notice it even though it plays such a huge role. (eg, radio, tv etc.) So I really feel that there is no better topic we could have chosen that could have suited us better.

I hope Shaun sees the work we put into this mission and that he likes the finished product. More importantly though to be honest, I like the finished product and I've learned new things... what more could you want from your first college assignment???  Maybe a good grade just to top it off???

With everything said and done I'm fairly happy with the finished product and hope that Shaun is too. The three of us did our research, worked together and were successful in the creativity aspect of the mission.

Usually I’d waffle on for a longer blog but I really should read over my slides now for good luck, don't want to get tongue tied or forget what to say when I'm up there making the presentation in front of everyone! See you on the flip side once I've made my presentation. Can't wait to get feedback..hopefully it's positive. Will let you know on the blog once it's happened.

New Assignments, New Faces

Since posting my last blog I have met new people on my course and have made new friends. First there was Mia and Danniella. Then I met Cian, Rosie, Zoe, Niamh and Ellen. I am currently working on a new project with Niamh and Ellen. We have a creativity mission to complete. We are (hopefully) going to create a podcast.

Today I met with Niamh and Ellen in the library for the third time this week. We are starting to work hard on this mission to do the best we can with it. I am getting to know the girls better as we go along ad they're very nice.

The idea is basically to research the basics on podcasts and digital audio. We're looking into digital audio and will be researching the ins and outs of it. After this, we're doing some research on podcasts. I love podcast personally. I think they're a great way to pass free time (if you have any that is. My personal favourite being series linked because it talks about TV  shows which I am always watching, and it gives me a better insight into behind the scenes of it all. I would recommend. But it is thanks to this mission that I have re- discovered this great podcast. I had almost forgot it existed, I had been so busy starting college.

We're currently working on questions to ask for the podcast and the power point to go along with it
Some of the questions we have so far are as follows:
"What's your life like at home"
"How did you feel starting college" etc.
They're all based off the topic of starting college because that's one thing the three of us definitely have in common. I really love that we're creating our own podcast because it allows us to be creative and get into the field of digital audio really easily.

As for the power point, we're basically going to put together some facts about digital audio, the history of audio and how new technology has developed to improve audio. I'm going to have to do some series googling but to be honest, I'm excited to learn new things about digital audio and explore a few more podcasts.

Also very nervous/excited to present this considering its our first assignment EVER in college..But once I do the bit of research and then put the work into the power point and recording this podcast, I'll be flying it.

Unfortunately, I can't meet up with the girls tomorrow to work on it further because I'll be going to my debs. This also means that we have to postpone the recording of the podcast. maybe this is a blessing in disguise, giving us more time to run over our answers to podcast questions  I'll be catching up with any of the work I may have missed on Saturday, on my laptop for the power point, more than likely hungover... It should be fun.. Cant wait to see how it all fairs out and I will keep the blog updated when we make major strides.

My Introduction

As my first post, I’d like to start by introducing myself. My name is Ava Jennifer Trundle, I was born at 2:56am on a Friday night on November 3rd 2000. (That makes me currently 18 years old if you couldn’t figure that out already) Personally I think the world has been a better place ever since that night.

I’m currently studying creative digital media at TU Dublin on the Blanchardstown Campus. I’m really enjoying it so far and I’m excited to learn more. The photography is really interesting to me and the visual creativity is good fun and really pushes you to think outside the box.

Before I started this course, I was a miserable little secondary school student. The thoughts of studying, doing maths problems or even opening a book made me physically and violently ill.
(If you couldn’t tell already, I tend to be very dramatic from time to time.)

I thought this course would suit me most because I have quite a visual mind. I have an intense (and sometimes unhealthy) obsession with the stage and with films. I’ve been in many musicals and I often find myself listening to music in my spare time, closing my eyes and setting a whole scene in my mind. I think of costumes, dance sequences, lighting, props etc. etc.

I would really love to expand my knowledge of how to create new images and visuals using technology and others mediums. I’m kind of clueless as of yet about all the ins and outs of this course but I’m so open to learning everything there is to learn. I’m so interested in everything involved in the course.

I’m really excited to keep this blog alive and freshly updated because I think it’s a great way of recording my progress. It won’t be smooth sailing by any means. I know that for a fact. I’ll be talking about all my achievements but also all of my pit falls and my failures (there may be quite a few). But even if there are some failures along the way, I’ll take them on the chin and learn lessons from them. Sure isn’t that what life is all about? I try my hardest to succeed at everything but hey.. you can’t win them all can you!

With that said, I hope you enjoy my blog, piece by piece. I’ll try to keep everything on the fun side because that’s 100% what I’m about. But I’ll address all aspects and learning curves of these next few years. Can’t wait to update this blog regularly and I hope you’re excited to read more.
